the Battle of LA

i can't believe that I'm watching the struggling Los Angeles Lakers play the Pacific Division leading Los Angeles Clippers. Most years this isn't really even much of a contest, but now there's a lot of pride up for grabs at the Staples Center where both teams play their home games. I've got thanksgiving week off. things at my job have been weird the past month. I haven't blogged about it at all, but there was a day about five or six weeks ago where my boss pulled me into his office and told me that he wasn't sure he could keep me past the end of the week. They were having budget cuts, and the order came down from the Executive department to stop all outside contracts. I was told that I may have to leave at the end of the week. That was a bad day. luckily Joseph campaigned often to his boss to keep me around. he told her that I was working on projects and he couldn't pull me from them, and they agreed to keep me to the end of October. I've hung on since then, it's November and I'm still around. Today i made a presentation to my boss's boss to help update her on the project and it went well. Really well, as a matter of fact. From the sound of things, I'll be there through February. Maybe even longer. I actually have the upcoming week off. no work at either job. Not much to do for school. I'm going to take Heather up to Los Angeles. I'm really enjoying putting together a list of places to take her.

Podcasting

For 5 of the past 6 weeks, I've had class or work all day Saturday. They've been terrific classes, like Educational Podcasting with Bernie Dodge @ SDSU. Today I was able to put up an extremely dorky talk about a new web browser called Flock. so dorky I'm almost embarrassed, but if you're brave enough, you can listen to my first podcast... click here and it will play the file or you can visit the feed and subscribe. I wanted to have a companion webpage, so i spent time making a podcast page. We ran low on time, so it isn't updated yet, but I'd actually like to finish the last two segments, local events, and job hunting and post some links on the web. Job hunting has great potential. I can put up an ad for our Intern position at sdsu for this first week, and I'd like to plug CUE, ISPI, and, ASTD since they're all really active at the moment. I'm going to try and podcast again. It's interestin. bullplop may be fun if I can talk shit instead of just writing shit

tip-off

the NBA is underway. I'm watching my first Lakers game with the big tV. lakers versus Nuggets. I'm in my new place, watching the Nuggets cut the laker lead to one at the end of the third quarter. So far, Lamar Odom hasn't dazzled. he's bringing the ball up now, and so far I've watched one one quarter and he's got two traveling calls. We have a new pointguard named smush parker.. a streetballer from NY. He's impressed me a lot more than Odom who is shooting 2-10. I haven't seen any of Kwame, though I was listening on AM radio as he scored his first bucket as a Laker. we have a funny sounding lineup this year. kobe smush kwame lamar and chris. Sure ain't the same as Shaq Kobe Fisher Fox and Horry. Chris Mihm sure ain't shaq. we'll see how he does with Phil and the triangle. I'm hoping we see a lot of rookie Andrew bynum. Cook is on the last year of his rookie contract. So is Luke Walton, who's out hurt for this game. His Dad, Bill Walton, is calling the game. devean George is back and playing well. kwame is missing wide open shots. Lamar is on the wrong end of a few alley-oops. What a frontcourt. It ain't malone and O'neal. three minutes left and we're down by three. one thirteen we're down by four smuch hits a clutch three in rhythm. The triangle was rotating. 34 seconds left denver turns it over. our ball 32 seconds,down by one. Kobe drives, passes to mihm, he gets fouled by camby. 20 seconds left, mihm misses the first, makes the second. Denver's timeout gives them a chance to show smush parker's sweet three again. with 20 seconds, they just take the last shot. We get the ball back as melo forces a wild shot. we get the ball with nine seconds left. smush came around to help on D. We have a chance to win. Let's see how they go to Kobe. he gets it, puts up a shot at the buzzer. We're off to overtime. five more minutes... 1:10 left and we're up by three 37 seconds left and the crowd chants Kobe Sucks. of course he hits both. it's tied up again with 22.1 seconds left. the ball will go to Kobe again. melo and camby have fouled out. I was wrong. they passed the ball around in the triangle. kwame posts up, he misses but he gets the rebound. kobe takes it and makes it with .6 left lenard's have at the buzzer misses so we're undefeated.
