Bullplop... is just a way for me to share the bullsh!t of my life with friends and strangers. I don't know why strangers would read this sh!t, but if they do, I hope they think it's funny. It's mostly about me, the lakers, bikerides, and the funny adventures that "plop" into my lap.
I've been sending out links to my flickr account, most recently to my friends from Taiwan. I've heard back from many of them in the last days, which has been indescribably great. They are a big part of why I blog, and with my new (and growing) fascination with flickr, I can make my posts more visual. Reading a blog, following the link from it.. both are fun, but in looking at Thien's and other geeky friends of mine I've found that pictures make a blog a whole 'nother thing completely.
I'm celebrating my last week in Ocean Beach. Next weekend I'll move. I'm helping Miss T get her stuff from her place to our new garage on Wed., then Thurs. we get the keys to the place. I'm going to stay here until next Sat. Gonna rent a Me-N-My-Buddies-Haul and take all the stuff over there on Saturday. Always up for more helpers... feel free to invite yourself. Today I'm celebrating by listening to my new(ish) Wyclef CD, sitting on the couch watching High Def preseason football. I'm waiting on a friend who'll take me down to the beach for the rest of the afternoon. some life I've got. More and more I find I'm enjoying putting my photos up on flickr. I ended up going to flickr pro. I used the flickr uploadr to put up 200 photos for a co-worker (all on her free account) then used iPhoto's upload to flickr tab to put up more of my own. I find pictures are a more enjoyable way to keep in touch with people. 'especially with friends overseas. a friend of mine is in japan. I find his day to day pictures fascinating. Hopefully my boring beach life is good to others. I'm reflecting a lot as I prep to move. It was just a little apartment under the flight path, but the time I've spent here has meant so much to me. I moved into this apartment with no job, no ability to pay for it, but with belief that things would work out anyways if I just worked hard enough. I was making $800/month and the rent was $925. I had no savings. It was a rough spot to be in. I raised money working for Z57, selling websites to real estate agents. I peddled a pedicab, and hoped like hell i could find someone to work for. The little side jobs I did from the lab were not coming in quick enough... Only now do I feel like I'm really moved back from Asia. Looking forward to the next place and the new chapter of life.
My blogging efforts have been on hold for the last week. Not because I didn't have time or because I didn't have anything to say. But because my hosting company blocked that IP address without telling me. i spent all yesterday afternoon trying to fix it. I emailed their support desk yesterday twice, each time they told me a crappy answer. Finally I googled for "neureal + me blog no publish" and found that others had the same problem. Neureal told me to use a desktop based FTP software after I told them my blog wouldn't publish. So I give a hearty F.U. to unsupportive support staff at Neureal. I want my Wednesday back you bastards!
all month we've been looking for a new place. We've probably looked at ten different apartments. Insane. But it all seems to have been worth it. We found a nice place in Crowne Point. I'm so excited about it that I've taken the pictures from the online ad and placed them in a photoset. There's pictures, descriptions and a link to the place on googlemaps Or, you could just view the flickr.com slideshow.

I've finally found a new place to live. For the same rent as I'm paying now, I"ll be living in a two bedroom two bath apartment with a third floor patio. I've never had a skylight and vaulted ceilings before... can't wait to move to Crown Point.

I'm very excitedly loading all the information off my old laptop and onto my new 12" PowerBook. A sale at the bookstore had me thinking about a laptop + iPod Mini for a whopping $1,099. After a week of thought, I finally decided it was time to throw down for the new equipment. Last week they had 5 models left, today there were only 2 and I didn't want to wait for another week. It's got a 60gig drive and only a 1.33 processor with 256 RAM, but hey, for $400 less than at the apple store + an iPod mini for free, I couldn't resist. I'm very excited.
I've found a ton of things online lately, that really have me buzzing. My sister and I spent an hour on the phone together, her in LA, me in SD both touring the globe on Google Earth. Where we flew through satellite photos from the grand canyon, then cruised Manhattan looking for a good place to get a drink, buzzed the eiffel tower, and revisited my old house from high school, and the places I lived in Asia. The Konfabulator program showed me that widgets aren't really just a part of apple's new OS. They are alive and well for anyone with a PC (or old Mac OS). My favorite is the iTunes companion, that pulls the album cover from Amazon each time I play a new song in iTunes, and lets me advance through my playlist. Very cool. I taught a computer class this week at Mission Fed. I did a powerpoint introduction, that has me thinking of ways to use that experience to show how learning can continue taking place even beyond the classroom. If I had enough time, I'd use Captivate to make a little refresher course for the ladies in my class. At work I've helped three of my co-workers set up gmail accounts. Friday I enjoyed showing off how to use Flickr. While helping her, I learned how to use one click to publish to my flickr account and blog straight from the cell phone. I shared my newfound love for Picasa and even sent her a quick review of all the cool things I talked about with her.

I'm house sitting at a real live house. Seriously. I just sat out in the yard and drank a few mudslides with my sister. In the words of BoratniceI was taking care of my buddy's two cats. I stopped by to feed the little guys, and appreciated the little diversion. Kittens are so playful and fun, I'm glad to do it. The mudslides were left in my buddy's fridge. mm-mmm. I'm spending part of tomorrow prepping to teach a powerpoint class, which came as a bit of a surprise, and will spend another good chunk of the day looking for apartments. Why hasn't google maps made this search any simpler for me? I've given up cooking, and am off to pick up some Thake-Out Thai Curry.
