My Cup Runneth Over
I've found a ton of things online lately, that really have me buzzing. My sister and I spent an hour on the phone together, her in LA, me in SD both touring the globe on Google Earth. Where we flew through satellite photos from the grand canyon, then cruised Manhattan looking for a good place to get a drink, buzzed the eiffel tower, and revisited my old house from high school, and the places I lived in Asia. The Konfabulator program showed me that widgets aren't really just a part of apple's new OS. They are alive and well for anyone with a PC (or old Mac OS). My favorite is the iTunes companion, that pulls the album cover from Amazon each time I play a new song in iTunes, and lets me advance through my playlist. Very cool. I taught a computer class this week at Mission Fed. I did a powerpoint introduction, that has me thinking of ways to use that experience to show how learning can continue taking place even beyond the classroom. If I had enough time, I'd use Captivate to make a little refresher course for the ladies in my class. At work I've helped three of my co-workers set up gmail accounts. Friday I enjoyed showing off how to use Flickr. While helping her, I learned how to use one click to publish to my flickr account and blog straight from the cell phone. I shared my newfound love for Picasa and even sent her a quick review of all the cool things I talked about with her.
