Fight On!

No one outside of Texas was expecting them to lose. They had a 34 game win streak and 2 Heisman winners on the same field for the first time ever. It was supposed to be a Hollywood ending for the boys from Tinseltown, but it wasn't. As Vince Young sprinted into the endzone on 4th and long to upset the Trojans, I yelled out "Welcome to Reality, boys." If college is about preparing you for life, how could going 38-1 get you ready for the times that just aren't fair? The ball won't always bounce the right way. You should learn humility and grace under defeat before you head out into the real world. As sad as I was to see the team stumble to the last step toward a historical run, I think it makes real winners out of them. They now have the opportunity to press on. To accept a loss, and play for a win. To not give up when things seem bad. Sometimes it will be 4th and 9 that wins the game (like that classic Notre Dame game) other times you'll be on the wrong end of it and you'll have to head across the field with a lump in your throat to congratulate the other team on a win. Either way, I hope the Trojans stay hungry and humble. Greatness is more than the way you perform on the field. Fight On!
