This past Saturday we had a group of friends over for dinner. I was pushing hard to watch my USC Trojans football game, but Heather really wanted to have people over for dinner. I was thinking "pizza and beer" she was thinking "cook all day and have a nice meal." The game was at 4, but it wasn't until 9:30 that I actually got to start watching the game. We grilled all sorts of delicious things, and 4 couples sat around on a rooftop patio having a nice meal. After dinner the guys went to the room with the TV, and a few minutes into the second quarter the girls all came in, and Heather asked me to pause the game. My #1 ranked Trojans were losing 13-0 so I was preoccupied and totally shocked when our recently-engaged friends asked if I would marry them in their upcoming wedding. Of course, I cracked a bad joke and said "I can't marry you, I'm already seeing someone else." But I was really touched, and still am. I agreed readily and am looking forward to a May wedding in New Orleans. Hopefully I won't be wearing my wading boots with my tux... It's amazing how trust works. We give it out, and end up getting more in return.
